Open Copilot to start work.
Most AI rollouts stall because people are handed fifty features and no starting point. This masterclass is about one change instead: begin every task in Copilot, not in Outlook or Word. Get that habit right and the rest of Microsoft 365 follows.
- One habitStart in Copilot, every task, every day
- Four actsThe hook, the why, the practice, the promise
- 66 daysRoughly how long a daily habit takes to stick
- Senior leadersTwo people per company
“Which app?”
Pick a tool, dig through menus and folders, and piece the context together from five places. You fit around the software.
“What outcome?”
Say what you need once. Copilot brings in the files, people and meetings behind it, and the apps are still there when you want to go deeper.
Nothing else moves: your apps, your permissions and your people’s judgement all stay exactly where they are. Only the starting point changes.
Four acts, one new habit.
We show it, explain it, have you do it, then ask you to commit to it. Every example runs on the kind of work your leadership team does every week.

1
Act one · The hook
The same task, done two ways
We start live. One job done the usual way, app by app, and then again starting in Copilot. You see the difference before we explain a thing.
On real work Getting ready for a client meeting: ten minutes across Outlook, Teams and SharePoint, against one request that pulls the latest emails, the last meeting’s notes and the open proposal into a single brief.
-
2
Act two · The why
Why starting in Copilot works
Three reasons, without the jargon. Less switching: one starting point removes the “which tool?” decision that makes people give up. Real context: Copilot works from your own files, email, meetings and chats, and shows where every answer came from. Habit, not features: a daily cue, the same first move, a quick win, repeated until it is automatic.
You’ll leave able to explain to your board, in a minute, why one habit beats a long feature list.

Act three · The practice
Five steps, on your own work
Hands on. Everyone runs the opening routine on a real task of their own, with us beside you.
- Open CopilotBefore any other app
- Describe the outcomeIn plain language
- Review itCheck the sources
- Refine or approveAsk again, or accept
- Move to the appOnly for deep editing
On real work The board update you’d normally start from a blank page, drafted from last month’s pack and this month’s numbers, then finished properly in Word.

Act four · The promise
Start, stop, continue
We finish with commitment, not inspiration. Each leader fills in their own card: what to start doing tomorrow, what to stop, and what to keep exactly as it is. Then we agree how you’ll keep the streak going for the 66 days it takes to stick.
You’ll leave with a signed commitment card, and the five lines to say to your teams on Monday.
What changes, and what doesn’t.
- Opening Copilot firstBefore any app, for every task, every day.
- Describing outcomesSay what you need, not which buttons to press.
- A 66-day streakDaily repetition is what makes it automatic.
- Starting in Outlook or WordThe old default is the habit to break.
- Scattered AI toolsOne approved front door instead of five unofficial ones.
- Skipping the reviewNever act on AI output you haven’t checked.
- The apps for deep workWord, Excel and PowerPoint still do the heavy lifting.
- Your judgementCopilot drafts. People decide.
- Your data rulesPermissions and compliance stay exactly as they are.
Is it safe to make it the front door?
We answer these in the room, with your IT lead if you bring one. The short version:
- Will it see things it shouldn’t?Copilot only sees what each person can already open. Your existing permissions decide, and your data stays inside your Microsoft 365.
- Can we trust what it says?Answers are built from your own documents, email and meetings, with links back to the source, so checking a claim takes one click.
- Will people stop thinking? Not if review is part of the habit. Copilot does the first draft; a person checks it and makes the call, every time.
New daily habits took about 66 days on average to become automatic in research from University College London. That is why the masterclass ends with a streak, not a slide.
Not a feature list. One habit you start tomorrow.
Everything from the session is built to be used the next morning, by you first and then by your teams.
- The five-step routineOpen, describe, review, refine, move to the app, on one card.
- Your commitment cardWhat you’ll start, stop and continue, in your own words.
- A 66-day streak planHow to keep the habit going until it no longer needs thinking about.
- Five lines for your teamsOpen Copilot to start work. One front door. Trust is built in. 66 days. Copilot drafts, people decide.
- Answers for the scepticsPermissions, sources and review, explained simply enough to repeat.
- A defined next stepIf you want to go further: Elevate for leaders, then Expand for the whole team.
