The Human Journey to AI Adoption: From Curiosity to Capability

Most businesses don’t have an AI tools problem. They have an adoption problem. Here’s how our four-step journey takes leaders and teams from a first look at Microsoft Copilot to AI that’s simply part of how work happens.

Why AI adoption is a human challenge

A new AI tool launches every week. Every one promises to be the one, and every switch sends your team back to the start. The result is scattered adoption, unapproved tools your IT team can’t see, and costs that climb the moment you try to roll AI out properly.

Meanwhile, your business already pays for Microsoft 365, and you may already have Copilot. But access isn’t the same as value. Leaders still lose time to inboxes, meetings, searching and repetitive preparation. People experiment, but daily work doesn’t really change.

Technology is the easy part. Human change is the hard part. That’s why our approach to AI adoption is a journey built around people: helping leaders and teams use the tools they already have confidently, build them into the way they already work, and turn that into value you can see.

AI without a plan

When AI is left to chance:

  • A different tool every month, and nothing sticks
  • Half-used licences and growing costs
  • Data in places it shouldn’t be
  • A team that’s tired of the next big thing
The human journey

When adoption is led, coached and measured:

  • Leaders who know what Copilot can do for them
  • Daily habits built around real work
  • Teams adopting together, with progress you can see
  • Automation where it genuinely earns its place

The four steps at a glance

Each step builds the clarity and confidence the next one needs. You can start at any step.

Step 1 · Ignite: the moment clarity arrives

Ignite is a half-day, in-person masterclass for senior leaders, run in small cohorts in Johannesburg and Cape Town. It cuts through the noise and shows what Copilot can actually do in the real world of work, using examples from your own business.

  • See Copilot in action on real tasks, live in Microsoft 365
  • Tackle real workplace challenges and uncover where Copilot delivers the most value
  • Spot the adoption roadblocks before they slow you down
  • Leave knowing exactly what to do next, with three use cases to try

It’s hosted by Daniel Avinir and Michael Claxton, co-founders of Solid Systems. Seats are limited by design. See the next Ignite dates →

Step 2 · Elevate: where behaviour truly changes

Elevate closes the gap between having Copilot and using it to lead differently. It isn’t training. It’s a six-week, one-to-one executive coaching engagement, with up to three leaders per cohort, built around each leader’s real work: their inbox, their meetings, their documents. Every week includes live coaching, guided exercises and curated prompts to practise between sessions.

Step 3 · Expand: when teams multiply the impact

Expand takes what works for leaders and scales it across the business. It’s delivered through the Solid AI Academy: a dedicated learning platform with a human coach in your corner, so Microsoft 365 and Copilot become part of how everyone works.

Pathways for every roleContent adapts to each person’s job, with examples from their own work.
A coach in your cornerThe platform carries the content; a human coach carries the accountability.
Learning in the flow of workGuided exercises happen inside the Microsoft 365 tools people already use.

Step 4 · Embed: when AI fades into the background

Embed is where AI stops being something people use and becomes something that runs in the background of how the business operates. Where Elevate and Expand build human capability, Embed builds Copilot agents inside Microsoft 365. It isn’t coaching. It’s a “we do the work” service: we identify high-friction workflows with the people who run them, design and build the agents, and put them into production.

Take a supplier invoice. It lands in a shared inbox, an agent reads it and picks out the amount, order number and due date, the approver gets a one-tap request in Teams, and the invoice is filed in SharePoint with finance notified. That’s real process automation, not just personal productivity.

Embed is the earned end of the journey: the point where your team already works well with Copilot and you know exactly which workflows are worth automating. It’s coming soon. Get on the list →

The Solid Way How we approach AI adoption

Where should you start?

There’s no fixed entry point. Start where your business is today:

  1. 1

Leadership is still working out what AI means for you

Start with Ignite. Half a day gives your leaders a shared, clear picture and a decision on what to do next.

  2. 2

Leaders have Copilot but mostly use the chat box

Go to Elevate. Six weeks of coaching turns access into daily habits. Most leaders book it after Ignite, but you don’t have to.

  3. 3

Leaders are on board and the team needs to follow

Expand brings structured, coached learning to everyone, role by role.

  4. 4

Your team is confident and you know what to automate

Embed builds the agents that take that work off people’s plates.

Not sure? Take the free Copilot Reality Check: three minutes, and you’ll get a score on what Copilot can do across your Microsoft 365 and how much you’re leaving on the table.

Frequently asked questions

Do we have to start with Ignite?

No. You can start at any step. Many leaders book Elevate after attending Ignite, but it isn’t required.

Is Elevate a training course?

No. It’s one-to-one executive coaching over six weeks, built around each leader’s real work rather than theory.

Who is the journey for?

Businesses that run on Microsoft 365 and want their people to get real value from Copilot. Ignite and Elevate start with leaders; Expand and Embed take it across the business.

When will Expand and Embed be available?

The Solid AI Academy (Expand) is in beta phase, and you can try a module with your team now. Embed is coming soon, and you can join the list on its page.
